(Miri, 26th) From today until February 2, the land routes between Malaysia and Brunei, including the Sungai Tujoh checkpoint, will extend their opening hours until midnight for 8 days to facilitate cross-border travel during the Chinese New Year period.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Sarawak, Dato' Sebastian Ting confirmed this morning that the measure covers major northern border checkpoints including Pandaruan (Limbang), Ujung Jalan Temburong, Labu checkpoint (Brunei), Mengkalap, Tedungan checkpoint (Sarawak), Kuala Lurah (Brunei), and Merapok, Lawas checkpoint.
This morning, Sebastian Ting contacted Miri Immigration Director Heneritha Martin and Limbang District Officer Yunus to verify this information before announcing it to the media, confirming that the extension has been approved by the immigration and customs departments of both Malaysia and Brunei.
He expressed satisfaction that the originally scheduled closing time of 10 PM will be extended to midnight, providing greater convenience for the people of both countries.
Sebastian Ting stated that this move will help alleviate cross-border traffic pressure during the Chinese New Year period, provide a more convenient cross-border travel experience for the people of both countries, and further promote the development of bilateral relations.
