The Cambodian Ministry of Defense announced on the morning of the 26th that the death toll from the Thai-Cambodia conflict has risen to 13, with more than 35,000 people along the border forced to flee their homes.
Deputy Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Sos Chheata, announced that the casualties include 5 soldiers and 8 civilians.
Thai authorities reported 15 deaths (including 14 civilians and 1 soldier), with another 46 injured, among whom are 15 soldiers.
A Cambodian provincial official previously revealed that there was one death.
According to Thailand’s public television, at around 5:10 am on the 26th (Malaysia time 6:10 am), Cambodian forces opened fire on Thai troops in Trat Province, Thailand. The Thai side retaliated, and both sides once again engaged in crossfire.
