Brunei Flow Meter Calibration Passed Ensuring Accuracy and Reliability in Commercial Transactions

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) The Weights and Measures Unit (SDT) under the Department of Industry and Business Ecosystem (IBE), Ministry of Finance and Economy, recently conducted accuracy verification and calibration of two flow meters belonging to Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd at the Pekan Muara Supply Base, Brunei-Muara District.

During the verification, the Weights and Measures Unit confirmed that the meter readings were valid and accurate, and registration and testing procedures have been completed in accordance with the Weights and Measures Act 1983 (Chapter 151) and Weights and Measures (Verification) Regulations 1994 (Section 3, subsections (1) and (2)).

The Weights and Measures Unit reminds all businesses and users of weighing and measuring equipment that they must comply with Section 3(2) of the Weights and Measures (Verification) Regulations 1994: Anyone who uses or possesses for trade any weighing or measuring instrument without an official verification stamp is committing an offence. Upon conviction, a fine of BND 1,000, imprisonment of three months, or both may be imposed; any unstamped instruments will be confiscated, and any contract, transaction, sale, or commercial dealing using such instruments will be deemed void.
