(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) In order to enhance Brunei’s awareness and actions against human trafficking, the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit of the Royal Brunei Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department recently held a roadshow briefing on human trafficking for 66 frontline officers and staff of the Muara Maritime and Port Authority.
The main purpose of the briefing was to educate and raise participants’ awareness of methods to identify potential victims of human trafficking in the country. Law enforcement officers and frontline agencies should remain vigilant and identify former clients who may fall into traps and become victims exploited by human traffickers.
Cooperation from hotel staff is needed to play a role in addressing the issue of human trafficking and to jointly assist the Royal Brunei Police Force in combating this crime.
