(Thailand, 9th) The death toll in the Nonthaburi Province school shooting in Thailand has risen to nine, with the school confirming today (8th) that a female first-year student succumbed to her injuries.

According to The Nation, family members of the victims arrived one after another at the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine on Saturday to collect the bodies of their loved ones and to prepare religious ceremonies.
The staff from the Ministry of Justice of Thailand and the Nonthaburi Provincial Office of Justice were also present to assist families with procedures and explain compensation arrangements.

It is understood that the first relatives to collect the bodies included those of the deceased Deputy Principal of Debsirin Nonthaburi School, Kittipong Somrat, and counselor teacher Tiwaporn Wanich.

Tiwaporn’s mother said in an interview that after her daughter’s death, she has not slept all night and cannot eat.

The family plans to transport Tiwaporn’s body back to Nakhon Luang District for religious rites. She said her daughter graduated from Prince of Songkla University and had worked in education for 19 years.

Father of Slain Teacher Cries: "Return My Daughter to Me"

When authorities explained that families of the deceased would receive 300,000 baht (about 36,801.62 ringgit) in compensation, Tiwaporn’s father, overwhelmed with emotion, said: "Take back the 300,000 baht and give me back my daughter."
Officials said they understood that money could not make up for the pain of losing loved ones and that the compensation was only meant to ease the families' burden. The compensation process is expected to take about a week.

Gunman’s Grandparents’ Relatives Collect Body

In addition, relatives of the gunman’s grandparents also came to collect the body. The gunman’s uncle said they were not ready to be interviewed and did not know about a purported online conversation between the gunman and his mother, which has been identified as fake.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Justice stated that, in addition to compensation for the families of the deceased, injured individuals could also apply for reimbursement based on medical expenses and severity of injuries. If psychological treatment is required due to the shooting and a doctor's certificate confirming its relevance is provided, reimbursement for medical and psychological treatment expenses can also be claimed.
