Iran Threatens Attacks on U.S. and Israeli Universities in the Middle East

(Tehran, 29th) Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has threatened to attack American and Israeli universities in the Middle East.

AFP quoted Iranian media reports that on Sunday (March 29), Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement saying: "If the U.S. government wants its universities in the Middle East to avoid retaliation... it must issue an official statement by 12 noon Tehran time on Monday (30th), condemning the bombing of (Iranian) universities."

The Revolutionary Guard previously claimed that U.S. and Israeli airstrikes destroyed two Iranian universities.

According to reports, Tehran was hit by airstrikes from Saturday night (28th) until the early hours of Sunday, with the affected buildings including the Science and Technology University in the northeast. The airstrikes caused damage to buildings, but no casualties were reported.

The Revolutionary Guard added in its statement: "We advise all staff, professors, students, and nearby residents of all American universities in the region to stay at least one kilometer away from campus."

Many American universities have branch campuses in the Persian Gulf region, such as Texas A&M University in Qatar and New York University in the UAE.

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said on Saturday that since the U.S. and Israel launched military actions against Iran at the end of February, more than 600 schools in Iran have been destroyed or damaged, with more than a thousand teachers and students killed or injured.
