(Bandar Seri Begawan, 8th) Two individuals have been sentenced to prison in a prosecution court trial for multiple offenses related to immigration.
According to a statement released by the National Immigration and Registration Department (NIRD), Brunei permanent resident Nurul Jannah was sentenced to five years' imprisonment for four charges, with the sentence effective from July 10, 2025.
Her first charge was for violating Section 12(1)(A) of the Passport Act (Chapter 146), namely possession of another person's passport or travel document without valid permission.
The second charge was for violating Section 473(b) of the Penal Code (Chapter 22), namely possession of eight forged immigration stamps.
The third and fourth charges were for violating Section 466(c) of the Penal Code (Chapter 22), namely abetment of a crime.
Meanwhile, 43-year-old Bangladeshi national Mohammad Aman Ullah admitted to violating Section 15(1), Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act, namely overstaying after his immigration visa had expired.
The defendant was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and three strokes of the cane, with the sentence to be served from the date of his arrest (November 24, 2025).
