(Bandar Seri Begawan, 9th) To implement the concepts of experiential learning and environmental education, 54 fourth-grade students from St. George’s School, led by Primary Department Head Chen Yu Ci and three teachers, visited the EnEvo Environmental Recycling Center in early August 2025 before the school holidays. They witnessed up close the process of turning waste paper into tissue, further understanding the practical significance of sustainable development.
Warmly received by Center Manager Chen Qing Zhong and his team, students first received safety training and then toured the entire waste paper processing workflow. Seeing waste paper transformed by a giant pulping machine into wet pulp and finally remade into rolls of tissue, the children were amazed. This immersive experience not only reinforced classroom learning, but also inspired deeper thinking about waste management, environmental responsibility, and the principles of "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" (3R).
Leading teacher Chen Yu Ci said that by personally learning about the operations of the recycling industry chain, the children truly felt the importance of individual action in protecting the earth, which is precisely the original intention behind the school’s implementation of practical education.
At the end of the event, all teachers and students took a group photo with the center staff. Determination to become little eco-guardians sparkled in the eyes of the children. The school especially thanked EnEvo Sdn. Bhd. for their thoughtful arrangements, saying that this collaboration laid a solid foundation for cultivating a new generation with ecological awareness.
