The highly anticipated annual cop thriller ‘Cold War 1994’ has officially set its release date and will premiere nationwide across Malaysia on May 1. Produced by the core original team behind the ‘Cold War’ series, this brand-new installment marks a heavyweight comeback after a decade-long hiatus. Since the official announcement, the film has rapidly become the focus of movie fans and the market, reigniting excitement for blockbuster Hong Kong cop thrillers.

As the third film in the series and also a prequel that traces back to the origin of the story, ‘Cold War 1994’ is directed by Longman Leung and unveils the starting point of the ‘Cold War’ storm on an even grander scale. Continuing the series’ signature tight and fierce narrative, complex and ever-shifting character dynamics, and tense power struggles, the new film maintains its cool and profound tone, while presenting richer layers in both story depth and the depiction of its era. Audiences will be taken deeper into an even more complex and massive maze of power.

When a long-buried old case is reopened and various factions begin to surface, a storm that sways the entire situation is set off. ‘Cold War 1994’ not only preserves the series’ iconic suspenseful ambiance but further intensifies the psychological battles and conflicts of interest between characters, fully upgrading the breadth and tension of the film to present a deeper ‘game within a game’.

‘Cold War 1994’ also features a special appearance by Louis Koo.
The cast lineup is glittering as well, with Chow Yun-fat, Aaron Kwok, and Tony Leung Ka-fai, the core figures of the ‘Cold War Universe’, making a powerful return and carrying forward the charisma of their classic roles. Louis Koo makes a special appearance, adding a key highlight to the story. Meanwhile, a new generation and accomplished actors such as Daniel Wu, Terrance Lau, Greg Hsu, Tse Kwan-ho, Louise Wong, and Fish Liew join the cast as younger versions of pivotal characters, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the plot.#
