Chinese actress Esther Yu attended as the Global Ambassador of iQIYI International, lighting up the Malaysia stop of the 2026 ‘iQIYI Starship Project’. On Tuesday night (7th), Esther Yu appeared at Zepp Kuala Lumpur to kick off the 2026 global tour of the ‘iQIYI Starship Project’. As the global ambassador for iQIYI International, this trip also marked her first close encounter with Malaysian ‘Little Pomegranates’ (her fans’ nickname). The soft and sweet vibe at the venue was off the charts, setting off waves of screams.

That night, Esther Yu appeared in a light green printed long dress, embellished with tiny purple flowers, featuring a halter neck design that accentuated her elegant neckline. She looked as if she wore a spring garden, exuding both ethereal beauty and sweetness, captivating the audience the moment she stepped on stage. Esther Yu won the Most Popular Female Character in Mainland Drama at Malaysia’s iQIYI 2025 Annual Awards for her role as Jiang Mu in the series ‘Double Tracks’. She described the character as brave and a little bit cheeky, just like herself. Talking about the most challenging part, she admitted that the crying scenes spanning ages from 18 to 27 were tough, as the emotional layers at different ages varied and she had to make viewers believe in her at each stage, which required a lot of study and thought.

Apart from acting, she also shared her upcoming projects, including the completed voice work for the urban youth drama ‘Brilliant as the Stars’, the recently wrapped fantasy costume drama ‘Yun Chu Ling’, and an upcoming new song recording. When fans called out hoping she would hold a concert in Malaysia, she cutely pouted and playfully replied, “That depends on whether there are enough people!” showing her honest and direct personality.
