(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th) To express gratitude and commemorate His Majesty’s illustrious sixty-year reign, His Majesty the Sultan has approved the construction of a grand landmark to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of his ascension—the Diamond Jubilee Mosque groundbreaking ceremony.

This landmark is not an ordinary building, but a magnificent and beautiful Diamond Jubilee Mosque.
In light of this, His Majesty Sultan yesterday morning presided over the Diamond Jubilee Mosque groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site in Kampong Mata-Mata, Mukim Gadong 'B', Area 3.
Accompanying His Majesty were Sultan Foundation (YSHHB) Board Chairman Prince Malik; Prince Mateen and others.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was warmly welcomed by the Joint Advisors and Co-Chairmen of the Diamond Jubilee Mosque Construction Supreme Committee, Pehin Abd. Hadz and Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Badaruddin, among others.
After the prayer ceremony, His Majesty watched a video showcasing the mosque construction project and toured the exhibition. Afterwards, His Majesty listened to a presentation on the design concept and proposal of the Diamond Jubilee Mosque delivered by architects from the Technical Services Division of the Public Works Department (JKR).
The newly constructed mosque will be named the "Diamond Jubilee Mosque" and it will become a symbol of prosperity for generations, highlighting His Majesty’s sixty years of glorious reign, and, founded on faith and devotion, will be remembered by present and future generations.
The Diamond Jubilee Mosque will be Brunei’s first mosque to receive green building certification, perfectly combining spiritual development with environmental sustainability.
This mosque, which can accommodate 4,246 worshippers, features various facilities including an auditorium, library, restrooms, and parking lots, aiming to provide comfortable and convenient amenities for nearby residents (including persons with disabilities).
The funds for the mosque’s construction mainly come from the National Development Plan, with part coming from the Mosque Construction Fund, which consists of donations from both the public and private sectors. The mosque is expected to be completed by July 31, 2027.
The final design was proposed by Director of the Department of Architecture and Maintenance, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Architect Haji Azmi, and was completed with the assistance of Ministry of Religious Affairs Architect Abd. Azim.
