(Seria, 20th) Malay Middle School Seria held its grand 94th anniversary celebration last night in the school hall, an illustrious event that attracted business leaders, social luminaries, and supporters of Chinese education from both home and abroad. Thanks to the generous support from all walks of life, the evening successfully raised BND 260,000 in school development funds, a remarkable and encouraging achievement that lays a stronger foundation for the school’s future development.
This year’s celebration, themed "94 Years of Literary Heritage, Towards the Future Together," signifies the inheritance of civilization and the advancement towards a new journey. The school warmly welcomed Chinese education supporters from various places to gather together for this grand occasion. Notably, H.E. Xiao Jianguo, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei, was invited as the special guest and attended the celebration in person, adding great honor to the event. Leaders of Chinese communities and schools from multiple regions across the country were also present in support and bore witness to this important moment.
The celebration offered a lavish banquet, with the organizers also arranging a series of brilliant cultural and artistic performances. Kindergarten children's lively and adorable dances, as well as teachers and students’ performances such as "Phoenix Dance and Luan Song" and martial arts, won rounds of applause from the entire audience, fully showcasing the school’s fruitful achievements in cultural inheritance and arts education, with a warm and energetic atmosphere.
An award ceremony for long-serving staff was also held during the evening to honor dedicated educators. Chairman of the Board Liu Xiaoyuan (30 years), Inspector Ye Xinhua (20 years), and Public Relations Officer Hu Jianming (15 years) were awarded for their long-term service. Meanwhile, Huang Xiayi, Sumbang Anak Pilang, and Zhou Huiling were also presented with Contribution Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the school and Chinese education.
