A Chinese internet creator from Shandong known as 'Villager', who gained popularity with his 'iron flower' performances, recently passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning at only 41 years old. The news, once revealed, left many fans saddened.
'Villager' had over 100,000 fans on the Douyin platform, mainly producing videos featuring flame-related stunts and traditional folk performances.
According to Chinese media reports, the incident occurred on Chinese New Year's Eve. After finishing his iron flower performance that night, he took some still-burning charcoal home to use for heating. The next day at noon, his younger brother knocked on the door but got no response; after climbing over the wall to check, he found him collapsed and unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment but could not be saved. The cause of death was presumed to be carbon monoxide poisoning.
In the past, 'Villager' took on jobs such as bricklaying, food delivery, and chauffeur services to make ends meet. Seven years ago, he began managing a short video account, initially focusing on comedic content. Later, after realizing that iron flower performances gained good viewership, he self-taught iron flower and fire pot performances with an electric drill last year.
In an interview, his brother revealed that the deceased was a single father, leaving behind two daughters who are still growing up.
He expressed his grief, noting that his brother's life had only recently started to improve, only for this unforeseen tragedy to take him away.
