Park Na-rae's Image Difficult to Recover, Suspected of Evading Millions in Taxes

South Korean comedienne Park Na-rae, who hosts multiple programs, has recently faced a series of explosive allegations from her former manager. First came accusations of workplace bullying, illegal drug injections, failure to pay wages, and even claims of engaging in sexual acts in her car and forcing her manager to watch—completely shattering her image. Yet, she has remained silent. On the 5th, further reports emerged, accusing her of tax evasion with the amount allegedly as high as 2 billion KRW (about 561,000 MYR), sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry.

Park Na-rae was already accused of tax evasion back in 2023. At the time, her agency “JDB Entertainment” quickly issued a statement clarifying, “Park Na-rae has always paid her taxes honestly, fulfilling her obligations in accordance with the National Tax Service’s requirements.” They also noted that she had made additional tax payments totaling several tens of millions of KRW.

Unexpectedly, on the 5th, Korean media reported once again that she had evaded taxes. The National Tax Service began a month-long intensive tax audit on Park Na-rae’s one-person company, “N Park,” starting in November 2022. “N Park” lists Park Na-rae’s mother as the company’s representative director, but in reality, her mother does not work at the company and still receives millions of KRW each month—about 80 million KRW (approximately 220,000 MYR) in annual income. Moreover, after establishing “N Park” in 2018, Park Na-rae accumulated nearly 10 billion KRW (about 28.06 million MYR) in revenue by mid-2021, yet kept most of the income in the corporate account, leading to public suspicion that this was done to evade taxes.

The National Tax Service believed that Park Na-rae underreported tens of billions in fictitious expenses and launched an investigation. Reportedly, authorities estimated that she may have evaded at least 2 billion KRW in taxes, but eventually, the case was closed after she paid an additional 200–300 million KRW (about 560,000 to 840,000 MYR) in taxes. Now that her past tax evasion scandal has resurfaced, it appears it will be difficult for Park Na-rae to restore her reputation.
