Popular Korean rapper Song Min-ho is currently serving his military duty. Since March, he has been serving at the Mapo Resident Public Facility Service Center as a social service worker, and he was expected to be discharged at the end of December. However, on the 17th, he was exposed by 'Dispatch' for his irregular attendance, habitual leave-taking, and even allegedly falsifying work records. The media's several visits to his military service location found him absent, causing an uproar.
Song Min-ho gained high recognition through the variety show 'New Journey to the West', where he exerted every effort in games and captivated fans with his goofy and cute image. However, his recent image has taken a hit, with accusations of not showing up for his military duty. In March 2023, he started fulfilling his military duty at the Mapo Facilities Management Corporation, then transferred to the Mapo Resident Public Facility Service Center in March 2024. However, from October, there have been reports of his irregular attendance.
According to Dispatch, Song Min-ho took leave to travel abroad for six days and five nights starting October 30, and even after returning home, he did not go to work. The media waited at his workplace every day from 9 AM to 7 PM during the two weeks of November, but never saw him, explicitly stating, "He wasn't seen on November 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15," with even other service center employees admitting, "We haven't seen Song Min-ho." Despite his absence, someone was covering for him. The introducer and manager of his transfer, L, told Dispatch, "He's on sick leave today," "He took special leave today," "He's hospitalized today," and even for the overseas trip, L said, "The leave application was indeed approved," emphasizing that everything was processed officially.
In fact, Song Min-ho was previously criticized for having long hair, which already violated military dress codes. At the time, officials from the Military Manpower Administration personally visited his service unit to remind him, but according to the informant, Song Min-ho hadn't shown up that day and rushed in from home after receiving a call. In response to this, his agency, YG Entertainment, stated, "He has been attending normally," to which Dispatch questioned, "We've never seen him at work." YG quickly changed their stance, saying, "We can't confirm his private life." Meanwhile, the service unit he works at said, "We can't confirm," causing public outrage.
