Ivy Returns to Malaysia for June 27 Concert – Most Wants Her Grandma to See Her on Stage

Malaysian singer Ivy is bringing her brand new tour, "BORN TO BE BRAVE," to the stage at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on June 27. This is not only a concert that fuses music and visual elements, but also a heartfelt gift to her hometown fans, using music to narrate her journey of "redefining herself."

For Ivy, returning to Malaysia for this concert is especially meaningful. She admitted, "Honestly, ever since I debuted, I've always wanted to sing back in Malaysia. Now that it’s finally happening, I’m really looking forward to it." She also laughed and said that one of the audience members she most hopes to see is her grandmother: "I really want my grandma to see me standing on the big stage."

From styling design, stage visuals to musical arrangement, Ivy hopes to completely present her most genuine and candid self, leading the audience into her musical world. For this hometown performance, she specially created a brand new single, "Nobody Likes You, So What," continuing the concept of "BORN TO BE BRAVE" to deliver the message of "bravely loving yourself."

Talking about her creative inspiration, Ivy said she is emotionally sensitive, even a bit "emo." "Nowadays a lot of people say 'some people like you, and some don’t.' But I want to push that idea even further — even if nobody in this world likes me, I still have to like myself." She hopes the song can convey a more direct strength: "You don’t need to always think about being liked by others; as long as you like yourself, that’s enough. This song is not just for everyone else, but also for myself."

The new song also specially invites Malaysian arranger Bowie to participate in production, making the overall atmosphere closer to her hometown’s musical vibe. Ivy laughed and said that this collaboration made her feel especially at ease: "Because we’re both from Malaysia, communication was very smooth and fast." She revealed that they had met several times at work occasions and Bowie had expressed the desire to collaborate many times, "I’d never worked with Malaysian musicians before. This time, for the Malaysia concert, I wanted to try, and I’m really happy we made it happen."

All along, Ivy has been known for her high-difficulty vocal performances, and many fans jokingly say her songs are "hard to sing." So in composing "Nobody Likes You, So What," she deliberately chose relatively simple melodic lines. "The melody of this song is simpler, and that’s actually intentional." She also hopes to show a different side of herself: "I’m not just a singer who belts high notes and focuses on technique; I also want to move people’s hearts with pure music."
