(Bandar Seri Begawan, 7th) Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) officially inaugurated the Sejahtera Lounge yesterday, a health space specially designed for employees, which also marks the opening of the 4th Annual Employee Wellness Week.
This year's Employee Wellness Week is held from July 6 to 9, 2026, organized by JPMC's Human Resource Management Services Department under the theme “Living the Mission.” This year's program is not just an annual health initiative, but also aims to prompt employees to reflect on the meaning of work and the positive impact they have on patients, colleagues and the wider community.
The event was officiated by Dewi Sarwani, Senior Investment Manager at Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd and a member of JPMC's Board of Directors.
During Employee Wellness Week, staff will participate in a variety of activities, including expert talks, interactive workshops, and health activities covering topics such as goal-oriented healthcare, emotional well-being, workplace safety, nutrition, women's health, financial literacy, and emerging technologies.
The week also features interactive programs like "Goal Exploration", a team challenge designed to encourage collaboration and problem-solving, while strengthening connections among employees.
A major highlight of this year's Wellness Week is the launch of the Sejahtera Lounge.
This dedicated health space for employees is designed to provide a place for staff to rest, recharge, and prioritize self-care during the workday. The lounge is equipped with massage chairs and comfortable relaxation areas, reflecting JP Morgan Chase’s ongoing commitment to creating a supportive workplace and recognizing employee well-being as an integral component of providing safe, caring, and high-quality healthcare.

The event also included a keynote speech from JPMC's Chief Human Resources Officer, Saliheen Bashir, the release of the “2026 Employee Wellbeing Survey Report” by Employee Wellbeing Chairperson Tracy Lamantan Maglin, and a thematic talk by Ustaz Muzaffar entitled “Living Our Mission: Incorporating Core Values into Life.”
Chief Human Resources Officer Saliheen Bashir said: "Employee well-being is not a week-long event, nor is it the responsibility of a single department. Our mission is not defined by our job titles, but by how we serve others, support colleagues, and contribute to goals beyond ourselves.
When our employees thrive, our patients receive better medical care, and together we fulfill JPMC’s mission of 'Caring for Excellence.'"
JPMC announced the results of its employee satisfaction survey, sharing encouraging improvements in employee well-being and engagement. The most significant improvement was seen in physical well-being, with advances also noted in mental health, financial well-being, teamwork, and organizational direction. Employees’ sense of mission remains the most prominent indicator for the organization, with 88.4% feeling their work is meaningful.

At the same time, more employees reported increased loyalty to JPMC, while those considering leaving declined. The survey also identified areas for improvement in rewards and recognition, staffing, leadership, workplace flexibility, and policy transparency, which the human resources management department has prioritized to further enhance the overall employee experience.
As the final chapter of the Sejahtera "Well@Work" framework launched in 2023, the 2026 Employee Wellbeing Week marks a major milestone in JPMC's journey to employee wellness. Looking ahead, the institution will gradually evolve into a year-round approach, implementing pillars of “Healthy Work” through ongoing initiatives, to promote sustained employee engagement, enhance well-being, and foster a strong organizational culture.
Through initiatives such as Employee Wellbeing Week, JPMC continues to strengthen a workplace culture where staff feel valued, supported, and empowered, recognizing that a healthy and actively engaged workforce is vital for delivering safe, caring, and high-quality healthcare.
