Fan Bingbing and Xu Enyi's 'Mother Earth' Premieres in Tokyo—Black and White 'Mother-Daughter' Outfits Clash: Dressed Too Alike to Stand Together

Directed by Zhang Ji'an and starring Fan Bingbing, Xu Enyi, and Bai Runyin, the Malaysian film 'Mother Earth' was selected for the main competition at the 38th Tokyo International Film Festival, and held its world premiere there. Fan Bingbing and Xu Enyi both happened to wear black-and-white themed 'mother-daughter outfits,' showing wonderful tacit understanding.

Taking this film festival opportunity, Xu Enyi was very happy to reunite with her teammates. She and Fan Bingbing, without prior discussion, both wore patterned gowns in black and white tones, demonstrating great rapport. Xu Enyi commented, “We didn’t agree on this at all! Not just with Bingbing-jie, but also with little brother (referring to Bai Runyin) and the director—their outfits matched too. But the color of Bingbing-jie’s and my clothes was just too similar, so we couldn’t stand together for photos and had to have the director stand between us.”

However, Xu Enyi said: “But the whole process of being together felt very warm and intimate. Because everyone was plain and simple in the movie, this time being able to dress up and look beautiful together was great. Bingbing-jie was so energetic, and with her experience, she was like a big sister—we all trust her very much.”
