NewJeans Lost Lawsuit, Contract with ADOR Remains Valid

The popular Korean girl group NewJeans unilaterally declared their contract invalid with ADOR at the end of November last year, citing contract violations and failure to heed their demands by ADOR. ADOR subsequently filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract. The two sides were unable to reach a settlement during the mediation stage, and the case was ruled on this morning (30th) at the Seoul District Court, with the judge ruling in favor of ADOR, meaning the contract between the two parties remains valid.

NewJeans has insisted that ADOR’s dismissal of CEO Min Hee-jin constituted a breach of contract, but the court ruled that it was difficult to view the dismissal of Min Hee-jin as a contractual violation, stating bluntly that Min Hee-jin’s goal was not to protect NewJeans but rather to lead them away from ADOR by instigating a public opinion campaign.

NewJeans' representative lawyer stated that while the members respect the court's decision, their trust in ADOR has been completely broken and it is impossible for them to return to normal entertainment activities with ADOR. They have decided to appeal the ruling.
