(Miri, 28th) Co-organized by Miri Youth Power Club, AT SPORT, and RRSS Basketball Club, with strong support from Riam Road Secondary School, the “Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin Cup U14 and Under Boy's Basketball Invitational Tournament” will be held from April 3rd to 5th, 2025, at the Riam Road Secondary School Indoor Basketball Court. The games will run daily from 8 AM to 8 PM. The opening ceremony is scheduled for 3 PM on April 3rd, while the closing ceremony will be held at 4 PM on April 5th.
The Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, expressed today at the press conference his honor to act as the general sponsor of the “Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin Cup U14 and Under Boy's Basketball Invitational Tournament” and introduced this meaningful event to the public.
This tournament has attracted 10 enthusiastic teams to participate, including Kedah Seri Abadi Basketball Academy, NS LF 7 X Stone City Development, Penang JS II, Sarawak Batu Niah Chee Mung, Sarawak Miri Kennedy Electricity RRSS, Selangor GK Serdang, Johor Bukit Gambir Basketball Academy, Malacca Smart, Sarawak Miri Chung Hua, and Sarawak Miri Yakin Basketball Club.
Lee Kim Shin stated that this tournament holds significant importance, being the first U14 Basketball Invitational Tournament in Sarawak. It serves as a high-level platform to enhance interaction and cooperation between players and coaches from East and West Malaysia. Players from both regions bring their unique basketball styles and skills to the event, offering a great opportunity to learn from and communicate with each other. This results in mutual understanding and promotes the development of basketball culture.
He emphasized that for young players, this is a valuable experience to showcase their training results in high-intensity matches, identify their shortcomings, and improve in future training. Moreover, this tournament serves as preparation for the 2026 U15 National Basketball Competition. It's hoped that players can grow and progress through this event, laying a solid foundation for future competitions.
Lee Kim Shin also expressed gratitude to all sponsors and the organizing team for their hard work, which ensured the event's success. He urged media friends to highlight this event through their reports, allowing more people to appreciate the allure of basketball and encouraging more youths to engage in the sport.
