The UK Financial Times reported on the 28th, citing sources, that the US Navy has deployed at least eight warships and submarines to waters surrounding Central and South America. Among them, five are equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles capable of striking land targets.

According to informed sources, the US Navy Aegis destroyers USS Duhan and USS Gravely are currently near the Venezuelan coast, while the Aegis destroyer USS Sampson is in the Pacific waters south of Panama.

In addition, the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima and two other support ships are heading to the same region, carrying more than 4,500 military personnel in total. The missile cruiser USS Lake Erie and the nuclear-powered fast attack submarine USS Newport News will also be deployed to the waters around Central and South America.

Venezuelan President Maduro emphasized that Venezuela will bow to no one—not today, not ever—and will never accept anyone being above Venezuela.

On the 28th, he stated that the US military “has no way” to invade Venezuela.

He vowed that Venezuela is fully prepared to defend “peace, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”
