PUTATAN, Nov 22 (Bernama) — The National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) can play a very important role in shaping the future and development of youth in Sabah, said Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul.

He said NADI is no longer merely a place to access the internet but has become a conducive learning space and a place for young people to receive guidance, build skills and explore new career opportunities.

“The involvement of Sabah youth in NADI’s Smart Service programmes, such as cyber security competitions, participation in creative Technical and Vocational Education and Training, and the success of young entrepreneurs in expanding local products through NADI’s entrepreneurship training, demonstrates the impact NADI has made.

“These success stories highlight the great potential of Sabah youth when provided with space, support and a suitable learning environment,” he told reporters after the Community Day Programme at NADI Kampung Kopimpinan today.

Johari also expressed his desire to see NADI grow as a primary platform to train the younger generation to understand democracy and the country’s decision-making processes.

“I was informed that as of September 2025, a total of 131 NADI centres are operating throughout Sabah, with an operating cost of approximately RM210 million over five years.

“Through initiatives such as the Parliament School Programme, Youth Parliament and collaboration with the Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia, I am confident NADI can become a leadership reference centre that nurtures youth who are bold in voicing their opinions, think critically and are capable of representing society in the future,” he added.

Johari said youth development must balance technological mastery with the formation of personal values, digital ethics and responsibility as a citizen.
