(Kuala Lumpur, 9th) People's Justice Party Deputy President Nurul Izzah clarified that she and her husband, Yin Shaolong, did not use public funds for their pilgrimage trip to Mecca.
On her social media account, Nurul refuted false rumors that they stayed in luxury hotels in Mecca and traveled by private jet.
“There are many defamatory statements being circulated, which need to be clarified, but fortunately, my husband and I can fulfill the responsibility of pilgrimage.”
She stated that their pilgrimage journey, like other pilgrims, was self-funded through a travel agency, and contrary to rumors, they did not travel by private jet but by commercial flights.
In addition to debunking the rumors, Nurul Izzah, who is also the daughter of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar, shared insights and lessons learned from her pilgrimage trip.
She emphasized that having differing views and political struggles should not use religion as material for slander and defamation.
“Let us pray for each other, so that more Muslims have the opportunity to perform their pilgrimage easily and sincerely, especially away from slander.”
