[Bus Accident Kills 15] Prime Minister Saddened by Accident, Instructs Higher Education Ministry to Assist Families

(Kuala Lumpur, 9th) Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar expressed his sadness over the tragic accident in which 15 students from Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) were killed in a bus accident, and instructed the Higher Education Ministry to coordinate efforts to fully assist the families of all the deceased.
Anwar stated, "My wife Wan Azizah and I were informed that the bus carrying these 15 students was involved in an accident with other vehicles, resulting in their deaths. We are deeply saddened by this, and I have ordered the Higher Education Ministry to assist the families of the deceased."
The Prime Minister also hopes that the families of the deceased can be strong in facing the painful blow of losing their loved ones: "These precious lives lost are irreplaceable."
He lamented that such heart-wrenching and serious accidents keep occurring, and all parties should learn from this experience, always remaining vigilant and cautious when driving to their destinations.

In addition, the Civil Defense Forces stated in a release that the "Disaster Relief Operations Command Center was notified of this serious accident involving a total of 48 people" on Monday (June 9) at 1:10 AM.
"The Civil Defense Forces arrived at the scene at 2:11 AM, discovering it involved an SUV and an overturned university bus."
"Rescue personnel immediately transported several injured individuals to Gerik Hospital for treatment. Some had broken arms and legs, while others sustained minor injuries."
According to reports, the bus carrying 42 UPSI students was on its way from Gerik to Temerloh in Terengganu, but overturned after colliding with an SUV at the East-West Expressway Warner Lake section, resulting in 13 deaths on the spot, with two others succumbing to their injuries later in the hospital.
