(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) The 2026 Korean Cultural Festival, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Brunei, will be held from July 31 to August 2 at Times Square Shopping Centre. Through traditional arts, pop culture, cuisine, and interactive experiences, the festival presents the rich cultural heritage and contemporary charm of Korea to the Bruneian public.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Aliuddin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei, with the attendance of Mr. Sohn Namguk, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Brunei.
In his speech, Ambassador Sohn Namguk stated that the Korean Cultural Festival provides a valuable opportunity for Bruneians to personally experience the diverse aspects of both traditional and modern Korean culture. The three-day festival features a wide range of exciting activities, including Korean pop music performances, taekwondo demonstrations, Korean cooking classes, hanbok experiences, Korean calligraphy, and various interactive cultural workshops, allowing visitors to learn about Korean culture from multiple perspectives and experience the charm of both traditional and modern Korean pop culture.
One of the key highlights of this year's festival is the Korean calligraphy class held with the support of Sejong Institute, taught by Korean calligraphy instructor Yoo Hyun-duk, who introduced participants to the Korean alphabet and traditional Korean calligraphy, allowing Bruneians to experience Korean traditional culture firsthand.
In addition, there are booths at the venue featuring Korean food, daily goods, and cultural exhibitions, enabling visitors to taste various Korean dishes and learn about Korean lifestyle and specialty products.
