KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim Congratulates Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on PAP’s Election Victory
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his congratulations to Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong for successfully leading the People’s Action Party (PAP) to victory in the country’s general election.
"I wish you and your team all the best in continuing your leadership responsibilities for this new term," Anwar said in a Facebook post today.
Anwar emphasized that the prosperity and security of Malaysia and Singapore are inseparable, as the two countries are not only connected by geography but also by close familial ties.
"As we look to the future, both nations are building deep cooperation at all levels—a critical foundation for tackling major challenges to the global system and international trade," he stated.
He highlighted that both nations have the opportunity to make the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone an outstanding example of what neighboring countries can achieve with determination and shared goals.
"We look forward to strengthening this special relationship in the times ahead," Anwar added.
Media reports indicated that PAP successfully retained its two-thirds majority in Singapore’s General Election 2025 (GE2025), winning 87 out of 97 parliamentary seats.
