MIRI, 10 May – As part of its ongoing commitment to talent development and industry-academic collaboration, Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOP) recently hosted an Academic Industrial Visitation for students from the Faculty of Business, Curtin University Malaysia.

Held at SOP Academy and Lambir Palm Oil Mill, the visit brought together over 40 students, accompanied by Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Dr Dhanuskodi Rengasamy, and Lecturer in Business Law, Dr Belayet Hossain.

Participants gained valuable insights into the palm oil industry through an informative session delivered by SOP’s in-house engineer, followed by a comprehensive guided tour of the mill. A key highlight of the visit was a hands-on product demonstration, showcasing palm oil’s transformation into everyday consumer goods.

Dr Dhanuskodi said, “Every year I bring different batches of students for academic visitation to SOP Academy and Lambir Palm Oil Mill, and I often receive positive feedback from those who attend, as this opportunity provides them with valuable insights into the palm oil industry,
particularly in relation to plantation and milling operations.”

SOP remains steadfast in supporting educational initiatives that equip future professionals with industry-relevant knowledge and practical experience.
