Cheng Mingzhi: Assistant Healthcare Workers as Important Pillars of the Public Health System

(Sibu, 10th) More than 500 assistant healthcare workers (PPP) from Sibu attended the 2025 Sarawak-level Assistant Healthcare Workers Day celebration banquet held last night at the Sibu Kingwood Hotel.

This event was organized by the assistant healthcare workers of Sibu Hospital and co-organized by the Sarawak Assistant Healthcare Workers Association and the Sarawak Assistant Healthcare Workers Union. It is one of the key events of Sibu Hospital's celebration of Assistant Healthcare Workers Day.

Deputy Minister of Sarawak Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Dato' Cheng Mingzhi, stated that the celebration aims to thank assistant healthcare workers for their service and sacrifice, emphasizing that they are important pillars of the public health system.

“This spirit strengthens the work culture and improves the quality of patient care. In the healthcare industry, although we come from different backgrounds, we share a common mission to heal, care, and rehabilitate.” He said during his speech at the event.

As the legislative representative for Pelawan, Dato' Cheng Mingzhi also presented the inaugural Assistant Healthcare Workers Organization Awards to honor those who excelled in discipline, active participation, and high service commitment at Sibu Hospital.

The awards were categorized into three: 'Neatest Uniformed Assistant Healthcare Worker', 'Friendliest Assistant Healthcare Worker', and 'Most Proactive Assistant Healthcare Worker'. The selection process was conducted through online voting by all Sibu Hospital staff from January to April.

Additionally, retired assistant healthcare workers and medical care assistants were also commended for their service contributions in the healthcare field.
