Iran: Military Vessels Approaching Strait of Hormuz Will Be Seen as Ceasefire Violation

Published at Apr 13, 2026 10:48 am
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran issued an announcement on the 12th stating that the Strait of Hormuz is currently under control and is open to non-military vessels under the condition that specific regulations are followed.

The announcement clearly warns that any attempt by military vessels, under any name or pretext, to approach the Strait of Hormuz will be regarded as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and will be met with a severe and firm response.

As for whether US naval ships previously passed through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian media reported on the 12th that two US destroyers attempted to enter the Persian Gulf. After being “locked on” by the Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, the US warships were forced to retreat; they were “only minutes away from being completely destroyed.”

On this matter, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported that the two US destroyers tried but failed to cross the Strait of Hormuz, turning into a “failed publicity stunt.” The purpose of the US warships’ attempted passage through the Strait of Hormuz was to “create false achievements” under the ceasefire situation and to exert pressure on Iran-US negotiations.
