National Disabled Persons Conference: Two Awardees from Yishan Center

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 11th) The opening ceremony of the first National Disabled Persons Conference was held yesterday at the Brunei International Conference Center, Berakas.

Minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture Datuk Nazmi attended and officiated the opening ceremony.
This event is part of the 2025 Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (Brunei MYCE), jointly organized by the Disability Welfare Council (MKOKU), the Department of Community Development (JAPEM), and the Brunei Youth Council (MBB).
In her welcoming speech, the Chairman of the Disability Welfare Council, Malai Sharifah Adila Surya, stated that this conference serves as a platform to explore the strengths, services, and challenges faced by disabled individuals, explore international best practices, and examine the role played by national policy measures in supporting the lifecycle needs of people with disabilities.
The minister subsequently emphasized Brunei's commitment to building a more inclusive society and empowering individuals with disabilities, highlighting Brunei’s key achievements and ongoing efforts.
During the ceremony, Nurul Huda received the Outstanding Disabled Person Award, and Datin Noraini Ming received the National Disability Service Award. Both awardees are from the Yishan Center, recognized for their outstanding contributions.
The conference also presented certificates of appreciation to sponsors, guest speakers, and hosts, followed by a group photo.
The conference is expected to attract 300 attendees, including government officials, private sector personnel, educators, entrepreneurs, associations, and social enterprises dedicated to disability causes.
