(Bandar Seri Begawan, 10th) The Brunei Royal Police Force's Bangar Police Station conducted operations at two different locations yesterday, successfully arresting a local man suspected of possessing contraband.
Officers from the station seized up to 695 cartons of various smuggled cigarettes, 4 boxes of liquor, and a batch of tools suspected to be used for drug consumption.
Bangar police officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in the Temburong Bangar city area heading towards Labu Road. Authorities intercepted it along Jalan Kampong Sungai Besar in Mentiri.
Multiple black plastic boxes containing smuggled cigarettes and liquor were found in the car, along with a bag suspected to contain drug paraphernalia.
Among the three people in the car, a 43-year-old local man was arrested on the spot, while the other two took the opportunity to escape.
Further investigation led to the discovery of another suspicious abandoned vehicle near a traffic island on Labu Road. Police believe it was abandoned by the suspects' accomplices due to a vehicle malfunction.
After inspecting both vehicles, the police seized a total of 695 cartons of various smuggled cigarettes, 4 boxes of alcoholic beverages, and drug-use tools.
The suspect and all seized items have been taken to the Bangar Police Station and handed over to the Brunei Royal Customs Department for further investigation and processing.
