Not Just a Robotics Technology Gala, But a Platform for Achieving Excellence in STEM

(Miri, 11th) The 2025 Borneo International Robotics Tournament (Borneo-IRT 2025) successfully concluded in Miri. Organizing Committee Chairperson and Miri Chung Hua Middle School Principal, Lai Jialing, stated that this was not just a robotics technology event, but an important platform for gathering collaboration spirit, innovative thinking, and the pursuit of excellence in STEM.
During her speech at last night's closing and awards ceremony held at the banquet hall of the Meritz Hotel in Miri, she mentioned that the event witnessed extraordinary skills and strong willpower demonstrated by participating teams from Malaysia, China, Macau, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, and Thailand.
Principal Lai expressed her honor and joy, on behalf of the organizing committee, to witness the exceptional talent and relentless effort of all participants in the ‘Robomission Battle LEGO Education SPIKE Prime’ competition over the past four days.
She extended sincere congratulations to all contestants, teachers, and instructors, emphasizing that the value of the competition lies not in winning or losing but in the friendships built, skills honed, and valuable experiences accumulated.
Lai Jialing especially thanked the guest of honor, Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah, Sarawak Education Department Director Omar Haji Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Tourism Sarawak Dato Chen Cho Yong, Mayor of Miri Yu Xiao Shan, and all partners who have long supported the event.
She also expressed her heartfelt thanks to co-organizers, sponsors, and technical partners, including the Sarawak Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sasbadi Learning Solutions, Tesslab Robotics, and the actively participating Miri community.
At the same time, she paid tribute to all committee members, thanking them for their silent dedication, meticulous planning, and concerted effort behind the scenes, ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
Principal Lai emphasized that although the event has concluded, the friendships forged, knowledge shared, and experiences gained over the past few days will continue to inspire and empower the new generation of innovators.
“Here, I warmly congratulate all the winning teams! For those teams that did not win this time, please remember that every experience lays the foundation for you to become thinkers, creators, and solvers in the future.”
