On April 8, China officially announced the targets for the seventh round of central inspections under the 20th Central Committee. All 15 central inspection teams have now completed their deployments. They will conduct routine inspections of 36 central and state agencies, including the 'two supreme courts and two ministries' (China's Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate, Ministry of Public Security, and Ministry of Justice).
According to Xinhua News Agency, with the approval of the CPC Central Committee, the seventh round of inspections of the 20th Central Committee will conduct routine inspections of 36 central and state agencies. These include the Central Social Work Department, Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Water Resources, National Health Commission, Ministry of Veterans Affairs, and Ministry of Emergency Management.
Other agencies included in this round of routine inspections are the National Bureau for Letters and Calls, National Healthcare Security Administration, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, National Immigration Administration, Civil Aviation Administration of China, State Post Bureau, National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, National Mine Safety Administration, National Fire and Rescue Administration, National Medical Products Administration, China Earthquake Administration, China Meteorological Administration, National Natural Science Foundation of China, China National Committee on Aging, China Academy of Engineering Physics, China Association for Science and Technology, China Law Society, China Disabled Persons' Federation, Red Cross Society of China, and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Li Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Central Leading Group for Inspection Work, attended the national inspection work meeting and the mobilization and deployment meeting for the seventh round of central inspections on April 8, delivering a speech.
Li Xi pointed out that since entering the new era, the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core has always planned and promoted inspection work from a strategic and overall perspective. Inspection and supervision have become sharp weapons in governing the Party and managing the country. He stressed the need to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping’s important speeches on inspection work, fully carry out the Party's inspection guidelines, maintain a rigorous tone, unswervingly deepen political inspections, and continuously enhance the deterrent, penetrating, and driving power of inspection supervision.
Li Xi also emphasized focusing on the fundamental task of the 'Two Upholds', strictly enforcing political discipline and political rules, and ensuring that the Party organizations and cadres at all levels implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee without compromise. Rectification following inspections must be enforced with real effort, further improving the accountability system for rectification, continuously strengthening rectification supervision, and constantly enhancing the effectiveness of inspections in promoting reform and governance.
‘Two Upholds’ refers to upholding General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position in the Central Committee and the whole Party, and upholding the authority and centralized, unified leadership of the Central Committee. Since the 19th CPC National Congress in 2017, the Party has raised ‘Two Upholds’ as the most fundamental political task, discipline, and rule for the whole Party.

He stressed the need for persistent efforts in strengthening team building, continuously raising the standards for the standardization, legalization, and normalization of inspection work, and always being loyal, clean, responsible, and courageous in struggle.
Li Xi stressed that the focus of this round of inspections must be properly grasped, with improved political stance, focusing on functional responsibilities, closely monitoring the fundamental issue of political achievements, deeply understanding the inspected Party organizations’ performance of their duties and missions, comprehensive deepening of reform, overall development and security situations, as well as deepening the promotion of comprehensively strict Party governance, strengthening leadership teams, cadre and talent teams, and grassroots Party organization building.
He also urged thorough understanding of the implementation of inspection rectification, and promote central and state organs to take the lead in upholding public service, benefiting the people, scientific decision-making, and realistic work, standing on the forefront of the 'Two Upholds'. He called for strengthened organization and implementation, steady and orderly inspections, sticking to facts, answering the same questions, seeking progress while maintaining stability, promoting work at every stage with scientific approaches and pragmatic measures, ensuring the successful completion of inspection tasks.
According to Xinhua News Agency and China News Service on Saturday (April 18), the inspected units have each held mobilization meetings for the inspection deployment.
The 15 central inspection teams will be working in the inspected units for about two and a half months. During the inspection period, special duty phones and postal mailboxes will be set up to primarily accept letters, calls, and visits regarding issues related to the leadership teams and their members of the inspected Party organizations and the principal leaders of subordinate Party organizations. The key focus is on reports and complaints about violations of political discipline, organizational discipline, integrity discipline, mass discipline, work discipline, and life discipline.
The heads of each central inspection team stressed that this year is the first year of the '15th Five-Year Plan' period (2026 to 2030). Conducting inspections of central and state agencies is a key initiative to urge the inspected Party organizations to strengthen the Party’s political development, always achieve the ‘Two Upholds’, reinforce the CPC's core mission awareness, foster and implement the correct view of political achievement, deepen the Party's self-revolution, and persistently advance comprehensive and strict Party governance.
The heads of each central inspection team pointed out that the central inspection groups will uphold Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guide, thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and all plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee, earnestly fulfill the deployments of last October’s Fourth Plenary Session, implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection in January this year, and fully implement the Party’s inspection work guidelines.
The central inspection teams will steadfastly adhere to the political inspection positioning, unequivocally take the ‘Two Upholds’ as the fundamental task, focus on the centre, serve the overall situation, stick to facts, proceed according to rules, discipline and law, and carry out precise and effective political supervision.
The focus will be on the implementation of major decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the essential instructions of Xi Jinping, closely monitoring the fundamental issue of political achievement, deeply understanding how the inspected Party organizations are performing their duties, comprehensively deepening reform, coordinating development and security, pushing forward comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, strengthening leadership groups, cadre and talent teams, and the construction of grassroots Party organizations.
The central inspection teams will also thoroughly understand the implementation of inspection rectifications, strive to uncover political deviations, push to resolve outstanding problems, and provide strong support for the development of all undertakings of central and state agencies as well as CPC building.
