The Henan Province Brain-Computer Interface Rehabilitation Equipment Technology Innovation Center has been officially unveiled. It is China’s first provincially approved brain-computer interface technology innovation platform.
According to People's Financial News, the Innovation Center was officially inaugurated on Saturday (April 18), led by Xiangyu Medical in cooperation with Zhengzhou University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University.
After its establishment, the center will focus on tackling key technologies such as high-precision decoding of brain electrical signals and multi-modal human-machine interaction, filling multiple gaps in China’s related fields, and promoting the advancement of brain-computer interface rehabilitation technology from the laboratory to clinical application, thus benefiting patients.
China’s national brain-computer interface development strategy released last year stated that major technological breakthroughs should be achieved by 2027 and that by 2030, the country aims to foster two to three world-class enterprises in this sector.
This year’s announced "15th Five-Year Plan" outline listed brain-computer interface as a new point of economic growth and, for the first time, included this industry in the government work report.
