(Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th) Led by Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office (Security and Legal) and Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council, Dato Sofian, the Brunei delegation attended the 2025 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCFL) held in Lianyungang, China, from September 16 to 17.
This forum, jointly organized by the Ministry of Public Security of China and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, is held annually and focuses on emerging regional and global security threats, including cybercrime, terrorism, and transnational criminal activities.
During the event, the Brunei delegation held bilateral talks with Jia Lijun, Director of the Political Department of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security. Both parties expressed satisfaction with their current security cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in combating online fraud, drug trafficking, and the application of advanced policing technologies. The delegation also visited the Public Security Technology Expo for an in-depth understanding of law enforcement technological innovations.
Prior to the Lianyungang forum, the Brunei delegation was invited to visit Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, from September 12 to 15, hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Public Security Department. This visit follows the official visit of Shaanxi Vice Governor Dai Binbin to Brunei in March this year.
During their stay in Xi'an, the delegation visited advanced technologies such as case management and traffic control systems, and toured the Xi'an Anti-Drug Education Base to learn about local innovative methods in combating drug abuse.
The forum's opening ceremony was held at the Haizhouwan Conference Center. Keynote speeches were delivered by Wang Xiaohong, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security; Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of INTERPOL; and Jean-Pierre Lacroix, United Nations Under-Secretary-General.
