(Bandar Seri Begawan, 10th) His Majesty the Sultan has graciously approved and conferred Brunei citizenship certificates to 654 approved individuals at the 45th Citizenship Certificate Presentation Ceremony.
The ceremony was held yesterday at the Main Hall of the International Convention Centre, with the Minister of Social Policy and Manpower Coordination and Minister of Home Affairs, Ahmad Din, as the guest of honor, representing His Majesty to present the citizenship certificates.
The recipients included individuals applying under Chapter 15 Section 5(1) and Section 8(1) of the Brunei Nationality Act, as well as those who passed the written and oral examinations in Malay language.
Other beneficiaries included children born to Bruneian mothers, children whose fathers are Bruneian citizens, adopted children of parents with Bruneian citizenship, as well as wives approved under Section 5(6) whose husbands are Bruneian citizens.
One of the recipients, Abdul Hafiz, expressed in an interview that he sincerely thanks His Majesty the Sultan for granting him Bruneian citizenship. After becoming a citizen, he will continue to serve loyally and contribute to the country through his profession as a nurse at the Ministry of Health.
Another recipient, Nursarina, said that she had been waiting to become a Bruneian citizen for some time, and now that her wish has finally come true, she feels both excited and grateful.
She said that she was born in Brunei, and her heart and soul have always belonged to Brunei. She will continue to give back to the country through her work, and as a Bruneian citizen and loyal subject of His Majesty, she extends her deepest gratitude to the Sultan and wishes His Majesty good health and many more years of leadership for Brunei.
