(Siriya, 10th) In order to broaden students’ career horizons and deepen their understanding of the medical and healthcare field, a total of 44 eleventh grade students from Chung Cheng High School, accompanied by two leading teachers, were recently invited to participate in the campus open day event organized by the Jerudong Park Medical Centre School of Health Sciences. The purpose of this event was to provide graduating students, who are facing choices about further studies, with a valuable opportunity to experience real-life scenarios in the medical industry up close.
On the day of the event, the academy carefully planned the tour route and set up clearly themed viewing points on each floor, with dedicated guides providing detailed explanations. The group of teachers and students visited the academy’s core administrative areas in turn, learning about the operational structure of a medical education institution; in the advanced chemical and biological laboratories, students observed the basic environment and processes of medical research; in the nursing skills training area, the guide focused on demonstrating standard operating procedures in clinical nursing.

In addition to static displays, the open day specially featured interactive experience sessions. Under the guidance of professional mentors, students personally practiced emergency procedures such as nasopharyngeal suction, the Heimlich maneuver, and puncture techniques, allowing them to experience firsthand the professional competence and responsibilities shouldered by healthcare workers in emergency situations through hands-on learning.
The Chung Cheng High School lead teacher stated that this visit not only gave graduating students a concrete understanding of nursing and medical support professions, but more importantly, the academy’s admissions officer gave a detailed explanation of external admissions criteria, curriculum setup, and future career development paths—pointing out preparation directions for students aspiring to enter the healthcare field. Many participating students responded that the event clarified what were previously vague concepts of healthcare careers, and some have become more determined to apply for related programs at the academy in the future.
The Jerudong Park Medical Centre School of Health Sciences stated that it welcomes more young students to explore the mysteries of medicine through the open day platform, and the academy will continue to serve as a window for sharing medical education resources with the community. The visit ended successfully with rewarding exchanges among teachers and students.
