German Chancellor Merz stated on the 26th that Germany and its allies no longer impose restrictions on the range of weapons aiding Ukraine.
Speaking at the European Forum event of West German Broadcasting in Berlin, he mentioned that whether it is the UK, France, Germany, or the United States, the weapons provided to Ukraine are no longer limited in range, which means Ukraine can defend itself by attacking military targets within Russia.
He expressed that Germany will do its utmost to continue supporting Ukraine militarily.
However, Merz did not mention whether Germany would provide Ukraine with the long-range strike-capable 'Taurus' cruise missiles.
The previous German government had consistently refused to provide Ukraine with 'Taurus' missiles, but Merz, before becoming Chancellor, had publicly expressed support for supplying these missiles to Ukraine.
This move is 'very dangerous'
On the other hand, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov responded to Merz's remarks on the 26th, saying that it would be 'very dangerous' if Western countries indeed make this decision.
