"Kedah Week" at Osaka Expo Sanusi: Experience the Charm of Kedah Firsthand

 

(Osaka, 4th) The Kedah State Government, in collaboration with Kedah Tourism and the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), showcased Malaysia's unique culture on the international stage through the "Kedah Week" event at the 2025 Osaka Expo in Japan. The event attracted over 200,000 visitors from around the world. 

Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi, who led the delegation to this Expo, stated that hosting this event is an honor for Kedah, as it is the first Malaysian state to organize a "Kedah Week" at this prestigious international gathering.

He said that Kedah not only boasts a rich heritage and natural beauty but also serves as a true reflection of Malaysia's cultural identity.
 "We are proud to be the first Malaysian state to host 'Kedah Week' at the 2025 Expo. Through this initiative, we hope to further enhance Kedah's appeal as a tourist destination and investment hub." 

During the week-long event, visitors had the opportunity to experience Kedah’s cultural uniqueness, traditional cuisine, and tourism attractions, aligning with Malaysia's goal of showcasing its multiculturalism to the world.

One of the key highlights of "Kedah Week" was a traditional cooking demonstration led by renowned Kedah chef, Chef Din. Additionally, an interactive session to make "Jala Roti with Chicken Curry" became a popular attraction, vividly displaying the rich flavors and cultural uniqueness of Malay cuisine. 

Moreover, the event also featured traditional martial arts performances from Kedah, showcasing the local variation of Silat. In the fashion segment, traditional Kedah-style Malay attire was presented with a modern twist while retaining its cultural essence. Visitors could also try on these traditional outfits, gaining firsthand appreciation for Kedah's rich textile heritage.
