According to Thai authorities' predictions, water levels in the Hat Yai disaster area are expected to rise to 1.5 meters. In order to rescue Malaysians stranded in the flood-hit area, the first batch of 30 Malaysian rescue personnel departed for the Hat Yai disaster zone on Monday afternoon around 1pm, transported by large trucks to carry out rescue operations.
Chairman of the Sungai Petani Volunteer Fire Brigade, Leong Ming Da, stated that despite continuous heavy rainfall all day (since yesterday until now) and the severe situation, the rescue teams are making every effort and dare not be complacent.
He pointed out that the rescue team's primary goal is to do their utmost to safely evacuate the stranded nationals, while also ensuring the safety of the rescuers themselves.
He said the volunteer fire brigade has also transported rescue boats to the disaster area to assist with water rescue operations, striving to maximize the safety of the people as the floods continue to worsen.
He emphasized that the situation is extremely severe. According to Thai authorities' predictions, the water level in the disaster area is expected to reach 1.5 meters, so the rescue operation must race against time to evacuate the stranded Malaysians as soon as possible.
