The UK held a ceremony on the 15th at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the WWII victory over Japan. King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the UK, Prime Minister Starmer, and other royal family members and political figures attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Charles III said that the cost of war far exceeds the battlefield. He emphasized that those who fought and sacrificed on the Far Eastern front in WWII will never be forgotten.

Charles III said that countries and groups who had never fought side by side before, overcame mountains, seas, religious differences, and cultural barriers to coordinate on the Far Eastern battlefield. "Whether in times of war or peace, the greatest strength does not come from the weapons we hold, but from the power of unity."

At noon, the entire UK observed two minutes of silence. That evening, hundreds of landmarks and buildings across the UK were lit up in commemoration, including Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, and the White Cliffs of Dover.
