(Mukah, 6th) — A foreign couple suspected of being involved in methamphetamine trafficking activities in the Mukah and Selangau areas was arrested by police yesterday. Police seized drugs and related items worth approximately RM121,000.
This raid was carried out at around 11:20 am yesterday. Mukah Police District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division personnel raided a white Toyota Fortuner SUV parked in front of a shop near the Mukah-Selangau Road, Ulu Bayan junction.
Mukah Police District Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohd Rizal, stated that police, while inspecting the car’s two suspects—a 33-year-old male driver and a 47-year-old female front passenger—found 22 transparent plastic bags containing crystalline substances in a black bag inside the vehicle, suspected to be methamphetamine (meth).
“The total weight of drugs seized is 63.5 grams, which is believed to be intended for distribution in the local market along the Mukah-Selangau highway and the Ulu Bayan area.”
He said the couple is suspected to be actively engaged in drug distribution and is currently detained to assist further investigations.
He added that besides the drugs, police also confiscated an SUV, several pieces of gold jewelry, and cash. The total value of all seized items is about RM121,000.
“Urine test results showed both suspects were negative for drugs. They are currently in custody, and police are investigating the case under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.”
“The police will apply for a remand order from the court today to complete the investigation procedure.”
