US President Trump said on the 1st that he might consider deporting American billionaire Elon Musk, who was born in South Africa.
When asked by the media at the White House whether he would consider deporting Musk, he said: "I don't know. We will look into it."
Musk has held US citizenship since 2002.
Trump also pointed out that the Department of Government Efficiency might have to review the government subsidies Musk has received.
He said: "We may have to let the Department of Government Efficiency check on Musk. Do you know what the Department of Government Efficiency is? It's a monster, and it might turn around and eat Musk."
Trump believes Musk's criticism of the "Big and Beautiful" spending bill is due to his dissatisfaction with the removal of measures supporting the electric vehicle industry.
He said: "He (Musk) is losing his electric vehicle privileges, and he's not happy about it, ... but he might lose a lot more. I can tell you right now, Musk could lose much more than that."
Musk was Trump's largest donor in last year's presidential campaign. The newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Trump's administration was also headed by Musk until Musk resigned at the end of May.
He has criticized Trump's "Big and Beautiful" bill on many occasions, even reiterating that if the US Congress passes the bill, he would launch a new political party called the "American Party."
