On the 19th, U.S. President Trump told the media at the White House that he expects to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later this year.
While inspecting the newly built helicopter landing pad on the South Lawn of the White House, he was asked whether he would meet with Kim Jong Un this fall and responded accordingly.
He said, "I know Kim Jong Un very well," and "I get along with him very well."
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal on the 18th, Trump is urging aides to push for a meeting with Kim Jong Un as early as this fall, possibly in November.
Trump also revealed that North Korea possesses 57 powerful nuclear warheads.
He pointed out that North Korea should never have been allowed to possess nuclear weapons, but as long as the U.S. has a smart president, there will be no problem with Kim Jong Un.
U.S. officials and external experts have previously estimated that North Korea possesses between 50 and 60 nuclear warheads. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, meanwhile, estimates that North Korea’s fissile material is enough to manufacture at least 30 nuclear warheads.
