Under the influence of Typhoon White Dolphin and strong westerly winds, China's Central Meteorological Observatory on Tuesday simultaneously issued an orange alert for heavy rain, a blue alert for severe convective weather, and a blue alert for typhoons. In the next three days, regions from coastal Zhejiang and Jiangsu to inland Inner Mongolia and Shanxi will experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.
According to Chinese state media CCTV, as of 5 a.m. on the 11th, the center of Typhoon White Dolphin was located in Anqing City, Anhui province, with maximum winds of Force 8 on the periphery. It is forecast to move west-northwest at a speed of 15 to 20 kilometers per hour, with gradually weakening strength.
The Central Meteorological Observatory predicts that in the next three days, under the combined impact of Typhoon White Dolphin and a westerly trough, there will be heavy or very heavy rain in eastern Zhejiang, western and southern Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, northern Hunan, Henan, western Shandong, central and southern Hebei, southeastern Shanxi, central and southern Beijing, and central and western Inner Mongolia. Some areas will experience extremely heavy rainfall, and some regions will be accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds, and other severe convective weather.
Regarding strong winds, it is expected that from 8 a.m. on the 11th to 8 a.m. on the 12th, parts of central and eastern Inner Mongolia, eastern Northwest region, western Northeast region, central Huanghuai, central Jianghan, central and eastern Jianghuai, northeastern Jiangnan, and eastern Southwest China will see thunderstorms with winds above Force 8 or hail, with maximum wind force reaching above Force 11. In some areas, tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Yesterday, Beijing had already issued its second orange alert for heavy rain this flood season, with seven districts including Daxing and Tongzhou upgrading to the highest-level red alert for heavy rain.
The municipal meteorological observatory predicts that Beijing's cumulative rainfall from this event will reach the heavy rain threshold, with the southern, western, and northern mountain areas reaching very heavy rain levels. Some areas such as Fangshan, Daxing, Tongzhou, and Mentougou will experience extremely heavy rainfall.
