(Kuala Lumpur, 8th) Kuala Lumpur police have issued at least 500 violation notices over two days since launching the 'Comply with Traffic Rules Operation' (OP PUU) on the main roads of the capital, reminding road users to obey traffic regulations.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil stated in a press release that on the first day of the operation, which started last Saturday (6th), police issued 500 violation notices to members of the public who committed minor traffic offenses. However, the purpose was merely to remind them not to reoffend, and no fines were imposed.
"In addition, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall also issued 24 notices, and the Road Transport Department issued 126 notices, inspected 24 vehicles, and towed away 4 vehicles that were obstructing traffic."
Fadil expressed regret that there are still many obstinate road users who continue to violate traffic rules. Therefore, law enforcement agencies will adopt a 'warn first, enforce later' approach, and after the advisory period ends, offenders will be fined.
He stated that this operation will continue in conjunction with other enforcement agencies, including Kuala Lumpur City Hall and the Road Transport Department, and will also involve non-governmental organizations until it concludes.
