Sun De'an: 'World Chinese Night' Gathers Literary Spirit, Bringing Chinese Literature Towards the World and Peace

(Miri, 26th) — The chairman of the 13th World Chinese Writers Conference, Sun De'an, stated that literature is the echo of the human soul, and the Chinese language is our shared cultural root. 'World Chinese Night' is not just a gathering, but also symbolizes the cohesion of culture and the new chapter of Chinese literature in this new era.

He made these remarks in his speech at the 13th World Chinese Writers Conference 'World Chinese Night' banquet, organized by the Miri Writers' Association at the Meritz Hotel last night.

Sun De'an pointed out that from ancient Chinese characters to contemporary writing, from stories of our homeland to a global perspective, Chinese literature carries the warmth of history and bears witness to the pulse of the times.

'Today, we come from different countries and different cultural backgrounds, yet we have met through the Chinese language and have come to understand each other through literature. This is exactly what the World Chinese Conference is about—letting the world see Chinese, and letting Chinese move toward peace.'

He said that in an era where globalization and digitalization go hand in hand, the forms of literary expression may keep changing, but its core values remain unchanged—care for humanity, pursuit of truth, and a persistent passion for beauty.

Sun De'an pointed out that 'World Chinese Night' symbolizes the cohesion of culture, the continuation of friendship, and also marks a major new starting point for Chinese literature as it steps into a new era.

He said that the path of literature is never a lonely one; it requires communication, collision, and mutual inspiration. The World Chinese Writers Association provides just such a platform for ideas to converge and creativity to spark, allowing Chinese literature to blossom in different soils and shine even more brightly on the world stage.

He also noted his pleasure at Malaysia's long-standing commitment to cultural and artistic development, with significant achievements in promoting multicultural integration and supporting literary creation.

In his speech, on behalf of the World Chinese Writers Association, Sun De'an extended his sincere welcome and highest respect to the distinguished guest—Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Member of Parliament for Miri, Zhao Junwen—as well as thanks to writers and guests from all over the world who have come a long way to attend.

He said that Zhao Junwen's attendance not only demonstrates the government's commitment to cultural endeavors, but also affirms the support and recognition for the development of Chinese literature.

'Let us for a moment set aside our busy schedules and academic gravitas; let us, among music and laughter, between poetry and lights, feel the warmth of each other and cherish this precious moment of reunion.'

He also expressed his hope that this night could become a warm page in the attendees' memories and serve as a starting point for future collaborations and friendships.
