(Miri, 14th) Miri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Alexon Naga confirmed that the Narcotics Unit of Miri Police Headquarters arrested a 23-year-old local man involved in drug trafficking during an operation conducted in Miri Mosjaya yesterday.
The police, during the operation on the 13th of this month, found 5.2 grams of methamphetamine with a total value of 570 ringgit. The man is currently detained at the police station.
The police will investigate under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a minimum sentence of 2 years imprisonment and no less than 3 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
Miri police also urge the public to report any information regarding drug activities to the nearest police station to help curb and eradicate such activities.
