(Hanoi, 18th) On June 28 at noon, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over a special meeting to continue studying and deploying solutions to address U.S. concerns in areas such as trade and tariffs.
The meeting brought together Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, as well as leaders from several relevant ministries, departments, and industry entities to exchange views on key issues in current bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
After listening to reports and suggestions from all parties, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed and commended the proactiveness and initiative demonstrated by ministries and industries in responding to U.S. matters. He emphasized that, in the face of increasingly complex and volatile global and regional situations, Vietnam will persist in its established development goals—ensuring an economic growth rate of more than 8% by 2025, while maintaining macroeconomic stability, effectively controlling inflation, safeguarding all aspects of national economic balances, and continuously improving people’s quality of life.
He pointed out that, to achieve this strategic goal, Vietnam will continue to deepen partnerships with all countries, including the United States, and actively expand the space for international cooperation.
Pham Minh Chinh stated that, under the leadership of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam always adheres to the basic principles of "cooperation, proactivity, positivity, efficiency, and determination," and is willing to engage in constructive dialogue with various partners on their concerns and suggestions, including specific issues raised by the U.S. Within the framework of international regulations and bilateral agreements, Vietnam will conduct prudent studies and provide reasonable responses to related concerns, ensuring a smooth advancement of the cooperation process.
He further pointed out that both Vietnam and the U.S. should base their cooperation on equal consultation, mutual trust, and mutual understanding, striving to achieve interest sharing, risk sharing, and mutually beneficial win-win cooperation. Any disputes or differences should be resolved through dialogue and consultation so as to serve the greatest interests of both governments, peoples, enterprises, and relevant stakeholders.
Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam will ensure that, while properly handling relevant issues, the country’s core interests and international commitments are not damaged, and will actively promote the building of an independent, self-reliant, actively integrated, and sustainably developing economic system.
For issues with institutional or systemic obstacles, both sides will continue with dialogue and jointly study pragmatic and feasible solutions; as for matters exceeding their authority, these will be submitted to higher-level departments for review and decision, so as to steadily advance Vietnam-U.S. economic and trade investment cooperation and promote the long-term, stable, healthy, and effective development of bilateral relations.
