The German Research Centre for Geosciences reported that another 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's Flores Island at 6:45 a.m. Malaysian time on Thursday. At the same time, an 84-year-old woman with lower limb paralysis was miraculously found alive three days after the earthquake.
Last Saturday (the 15th), a 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit the local area, resulting in 73 deaths, over 900 injuries, and nearly 60,000 people displaced.
84-year-old Paulina Pobi, who lives on a small island north of Flores Island, had her house among the hundreds destroyed by the quake.
She was trapped beneath collapsed bamboo walls until her family found her when they returned home on Tuesday. At first, her family thought she had already been rescued and moved to a shelter.
Local official Rudolphus said: "Because she was paralyzed and unable to move or speak, it was not until the fourth day that her family finally found her."
He revealed: "Her physical condition is good, and she is uninjured. She was just a bit weak from not eating or drinking for several days... It feels unreal, almost like a miracle."
